Programme Overview

The Product Design programme consists of four primary modules that emphasise the diverse product design techniques and how they interact with one another. Students will be encouraged to assess their processes and cultivate fresh views when conceptualising and creating goods within this framework. Students will investigate how to alter their designs to satisfy the needs of end-users who may be concerned with topics like as sustainability, ethics, durability, etc. through controlled experimentation and debate.

Throughout this curriculum, we encourage students to develop their creative personalities. In addition to reevaluating how an object functions by studying psychology to gain a deeper understanding of how human behaviour can serve as inspiration for a new project, our extensive curriculum is intended to educate students on the techniques involved in product design and the emphasis placed on ergonomics due to the importance of designing functional products.

The programme teaches students to comprehend various visual and tactile concepts.
  • Students are encouraged to utilise various media during their product production fundamentals practise session.
  • They are also encouraged to identify opportunities to cooperate on their projects in order to increase their knowledge of alternative approaches of producing work.
  • Through industry field excursions, students discover all facets of contemporary life and apply this knowledge to produce technological works.
  • Students can finally begin to comprehend what it means for their artwork to be a part of global sustainability initiatives by studying several core scientific methodologies while tackling real-world items.

Learning Outcomes

The BVA/B.Des. in Product Design seeks to develop:

  • Product design as a very imaginative and creative field of study. Analytical talents and the capacity to accurately appraise a situation and identify potential areas for improvement are crucial for success in this field.
  • Teamwork mentality. It might be vital to evaluate items and find problems with them; therefore, many people love working in groups, which allows them to combine their ideas and opinions to improve the product.
  • Outside the box reasoning. It’s all about how you take a step back from whatever you’re doing and apply the three modes of problem-solving to evaluate your current issue and devise a solution that will be more effective in the future.
  • Innovatively, critically, and critically! The more critical or dubious we are of our accomplishments, the easier it is to identify where errors have been made – don’t forget to use your imagination!
