Program Objectives
- Understanding textiles enables their use in the fashion industry – an approach that is relevant and sustainable given global climate concerns. This includes working with fiber to reduce current sustainability challenges. Students gain agility in visualization, design research, and methodologies – with color and materials.
- Understanding fibers opens possibilities for challenging existing unsustainable practices. Students develop agility in visualizing, researching design methodologies, and working with color and fabrics. They also learn to work with new materials such as recycled garments and plastic bags.
- The program explores the creative, technological, cultural, commercial, and sustainable context of textiles from new perspectives that support students in developing innovative ideas and challenging existing ways of thinking within the textile and fashion industry. The course puts a lot of emphasis on global trends and how they might affect the industry. It also puts a lot of emphasis on research into forward-looking technologies, such as making new machines more eco-friendly and taking ideas from what is happening in other fields.

Fashion and textile designers choose sustainable fibers for themselves and their customers.
- In this course, students use eco-friendly materials instead of those containing harmful chemicals.
- Students learn about eco-fashion to stay ahead of changing trends and build marketing abilities to establish their own clothing line or become professional designers.
