Vikram Singh Pawar is a student pursuing his MSc in Interior Design at JD School of Design, Bangalore. His pioneering work is on display with the title “Futuristic Micro Apartment for IT Professionals” in the JD Design Awards. The project describes a futuristic interior home office for a micro-apartment designed in 2040, specifically for IT professionals.
In essence, what defined the core of Vikram’s design was the process of bringing out the best use of optimum space and infusing it with all the technologies that are visualised for the future. Central, of course, to such a feature in the design is the AI-enabled personal assistant, which takes care of most of the apartment’s features, such as lighting, temperature, and configuration of the workspace, with voice-controlled commands. The security systems are aided to a large extent by the installation of facial recognition and voice authentication for enhanced security measures to ensure the occupants are safe.
Presented here are some of the transformable elements in microapartment format, modular furniture, and smart walls that adjust to varying needs. Some fixtures, such as holographic display settings showing versatile virtual meeting spaces, look towards the future, in which technology will easily suit its ever-changing user needs. The application of biofeedback technology, monitoring the stress level and giving ideas about relaxation techniques would bring attention to well-being and productivity.
Vikram has emphasised the use of eco-friendly materials and energy-efficient appliances to cut down on carbon footprints. From the choice of sustainable material for furniture, such as bamboo, to smart features that dim away the light or automatically shut and open the blinds for optimal use of energy, everything has been accounted for. This goes in keeping with the increasing emphasis on green designs.
The design has all aspects of future fiction, from advanced technologies to newer age techniques for space optimisation to a “futuristic micro apartment.” The inclusion of artificial intelligence and smart technologies is a true glimpse into the present world, where technology optimises living experiences but also caters to environmental concerns with the use of sustainable materials. Done in a modern hue with Asian Paints Royal White for walls and blue acrylic accent panels with LED backlighting, it’s a sleek rental that’s clean and enterprising.
Completing the white and blue theme is the use of CenturyPly and white acrylic laminate, creating a modern and robust design. With the Asian Paints Royal White base bright and clean, it was accented further with blue acrylic and even LED backlighting to get that bit of a contemporary twist. Topping the features is the Kaff Townville Downdraft Chimney and, more conspicuously, the LG Signature Rollable TV in the living area, an interesting technology-related space-saving innovation.
