Rishika P, from JD School of Design in Bangalore, is doing her BSC in Interior Design & Decoration and has been awarded the JD Design Award for the Best Execution of the Year. She also emerged as a winner of the Sidvig & Co. award for the outstanding process, presentation, and output of the project. Karat Kraft, a jewel boutique, is the epitome of her talent for adding contemporary chic within the futuristic prospect of her discipline of retail design specialisation, pioneered through her prize-winning project.
Karat Kraft is not merely a jewellery boutique, which is evident from the careful attention paid to creating an alluring and enigmatic journey. Its interior design is quite minimalistic, with the walls and doors being both elegant and contemporary to serve as the background of the incredible kinetic raindrop art. Through the captivating reflections of this installation, the atmosphere is always relaxing and elegant, and everyone can forget about the difficulties and enjoy their stay. Within Karat Kraft, there is a fundamental designer studio that also owns a photographic bay. Here, even jewellery items are caught at the most favourable angle, where every design of the piece of jewellery being sold is well appreciated.
One of the strategies that Karat Kraft applies to make shopping a more personal experience is to use two specially designated VIP rooms. Suitable for brides, bridesmaids, and other participants in the outfit, these rooms help make quick and correct choices regarding the accessories. A pantry unit selling assorted beverages and a holographic display room is added to this, where customers get a detailed view of the best-quality designs through a holographic projection of the collections.
The concept used in the design of Karat Kraft stores is not just a conventional store format; the idea of a retail environment is inspired by the seashell. The display units, which are made from glass and built as shells, also give off a luxurious and harmonising atmosphere. This biomimicry, apart from enriching the looks of the stores, also offers an ambience to display the jewellery in a much more appealing way. In Rishika’s design concept, attention is paid to the continuity of materials like polycarbonate acrylic and the different types of glasses.
Humble, glossy, smooth surfaces and colours provide a clear, elegant atmosphere that complements clients. Further, customers are also educated through holographic and AR show sections in the boutique’s design, making shopping an exciting affair. Karat Kraft provides facilities for designers to change designs, and the testing and marking room is also available to clients. Rishika’s Karat Kraft is the perfect fusion of modern sleekness and futuristically advanced design, where jewellery shopping is taken to the next level. With the original concept and the ideal work done to accomplish it, she has deservedly received the JD Design Award for the Best Execution of the Year.
