Just to think that you could go to another universe just by touching a mirror! Portfolio concept Meenakshi KR, a student of BSC in Fashion Design at the JD Institute of Fashion Technology in Bangalore, has come up with a new collection titled Portals of Perception. This collection is about the discovery and the sense of the show, and the concept comes from parallel universes and an awesome episode. The aesthetic of Dime is new; it aligns with a carefree, fun, and experimental young woman who is looking for more.
The source of “Portals of Perception” is extrapolations from the concept of worlds that are co-existent with ours. This concept is fancy and can be seen in most science fiction and fantasy works. Episode 3 of the television show Navarasa: The movie that radically influenced Meenakshi KR was Project Agni, the story of which is illustrated with the change of the past: a man wants his wife and child to disappear in the present. This rather interesting plot led to the idea of people science fiction-llike inventing ways in which individuals can move from one universe to another through mirrors.
To commemorate this marvelous finding, these people in this parallel universe come in fabrics that have reflection abilities. The collection is targeting female generation Z women within twenty-one to twenty-seven years of age, and their predominant jobs are software engineers and teachers. It can be said that the mood of the collection is dreamy and filled with wonders, where the audience is encouraged to think of more universes that exist. Avant-garde shapes and textures characterize the designs and pay considerable attention to the sense of balance. The cuts of the shirts are trumpet-shaped and asymmetrical; all of this contributes to the collection’s space-age appearance.
All in all, it was appropriate to name a band that plays music with “Portals of Perception” as the title of their album, which is itself dedicated to the concept of parallel universes and celebration. With the use of mirrors, acrylic mirrors, and plastic mirrors, the collection has a feel of opening doors to other worlds. These mirror symbolically the jubilee concerning the discovery of universe travel. The garments are eye-grabbing and glitter like a childhood evening, which implies curiosity and the discovery of new worlds.
This collection’s fabrics are net, raw silk, and acrylic mirror, giving it a perfect texture mix. The color scheme consists of royal blue, brown, black, teal green, and violet, adding mystery and depth to the play’s theme. These colors and materials give the impression that you are on a different planet; they are quite unique and catchy. This clothing collection can be classified as avant-garde, which makes the clothing line rather daring and unique, which is suitable for women who like to stand out. The beauty of this collection lies in the fact that it encourages young women to embrace the spirit of discovery, adventure, and their lives.
