Sculpted Senses: A Couture Celebration of Being Present

Sarveksha Mansingh Rane - B.Sc. in Fashion and Apparel Design 2022

In a world that is always moving forward, Sarveksha Mansingh Rane’s Sculpted Senses, the winner of The Formless Design Award (Fluid, boundary-defying silhouettes),  presents a deep call: stop, sense, and remember what it is to be human. This couture collection is an emotional and sensory exploration of the five senses, transforming clothes into expressive paintings that represent all 5 senses:  the eyes, the touch, the ears, the nose and the tongue.

Each piece is a work of sculptural art—eyelashes, lips, ears, and facial lines are intricately interwoven into the design with bold silhouettes, textured layers, and sensory data that instil curiosity and wonder. Crafted in Lachka, velvet, and cotton, the fabrics communicate tactile and emotional opulence. Velvet’s richness calls out to be touched, Lachka provides structure and gives, and cotton brings the experience down to earth with softness.

The colour palette for this collection draws inspiration from the natural tones of the human body, featuring a refined blend of beige, peach, maroon, and black. These hues evoke warmth, depth, and elegance, creating a visually cohesive and emotionally resonant aesthetic.

Sculpted Senses A Couture Celebration of Being Present

In line with the “Pause” theme, Sculpted Senses invites the wearer to pause and be present. It is a call to enjoy the aroma of rain, the feel of texture against skin, the beauty of silence, and the hues that define our reality. Every design becomes more than a fashion statement, but an exercise in living mindfully.

This collection is designed for Autumn/ Winter, for the aesthetic and sensory soul who craves artful dressing and storytelling fashion. Sculpted Senses isn’t to be worn—it’s to be touched, remembered, and experienced.

Lanchana Nanda pulled off a sneaky genius: she made the old-school Malnad comfort totally blend with current-day design smarts. Nothing clashes. Nothing feels forced. You get this spot that makes you think “hmm, am I in a boutique retreat or someone’s ancestral home?”
