Chavi Kanunga’s collection Shakti is a powerful and poetic tribute to the transgender community — a celebration of their resilience, transformation, and self-acceptance. Drawing inspiration from their journey, the collection explores the theme of “Pause” as the pivotal moment of growth, reflection, and becoming.
Rooted in the idea of reclaiming identity, Shakti moves through expressions of societal pressure, inner strength, and eventual empowerment. The garments use sharp, muted tones to express pain and restraint, while vibrant hues symbolise liberation and confidence. Structured silhouettes blend with flowing drapes, representing the delicate balance between external expectations and internal truth.
Targeted at individuals aged 24–30, this pret-a-porter collection brings contemporary relevance to a deeply personal narrative. The designs use rich textiles like brocade, adding texture and depth, while modern draping techniques redefine traditional gendered fashion norms.
With a strong emphasis on lines, colours, and textures, the collection communicates not just style but emotion. Each piece tells a story of struggle and strength, encouraging wearers to embrace their identity without apology.
