Curtained Corner by Shreyas B C

MSc in Interior Design

Shreyas B C, designer of the project Curtained Corner, the winner of the Most Functional and Flexible Interior Concept Award,  turned up at the JDDA 2025 and threw out the old boring rulebook on café design. His vision–tiny space, tons of vibe. The magic trick? Retractable fabric walls, just like the hospital curtains, except cooler and less medical.

Slide a partition, now you’ve got your own private little corner for some peaceful solo time. Slide it back, and it’s a full-on chill zone for you and your pals. It’s like café shapeshifting for your mood. No more awkward eye contact with strangers when you just wanna sip in peace.

That’s not all. Shreyas went all in with storage, too. Super-slick, wardrobe-inspired modular units that don’t hide the ugly stuff; they make the staff’s life easier and keep the café looking Instagram-worthy, aka clutter-free. No sad plastic bins peeking out.

Then there’s the vertical window garden—real live greenery right by your table, like Mother Nature just pulled up a chair. You can relax, while you nurse your cappuccino. The colors are nice, neutral tones and none of those confusing design disasters. Everything flows; nothing feels cramped.

It’s more than a spot to grab a coffee. Shreyas pulled off a place that feels alive, flexible, totally human—it lets you dial the vibe up or down as you go. It’s the kind of place that says “Slow down, do your thing, recharge.”
