September was a vibrant month at JD School of Design, powered by JD Institute of Fashion Technology, Goa! Our students were engaged in a variety of exciting activities that fostered creativity, sustainability, and innovation.

Crochet: Weaving Imagination into Reality

Our students had the opportunity to explore the art of crochet, discovering the joy of weaving imagination into reality. Under the guidance of expert faculty, they learned various crochet techniques, experimenting with colors, textures, and patterns. This hands-on experience allowed them to create unique textiles and products, showcasing their creativity and skill.

From Scraps to Solutions

In another exciting project, students turned scraps into solutions, exploring the power of creativity and sustainability. By recycling waste fabrics, they created innovative products such as bags, accessories, and home decor items. This project demonstrated their ability to think outside the box and make a positive impact on the environment.

Design Thinking Workshop: Sustainability in Action

Our students participated in a design thinking workshop, focusing on sustainability and creativity. They learned to transform waste materials into innovative products, embracing the journey from problem-solving to purposeful making. The workshop emphasized the importance of empathy, ideation, prototyping, and testing in the design process.

Celebrating Onam: Festival of Prosperity and Creativity

We celebrated Onam, the festival of prosperity and creativity, with great enthusiasm. Our students showcased their talents through traditional dances, music, and art, embracing the rich cultural heritage of India. The event featured a stunning floral carpet, traditional Kerala cuisine, and vibrant decorations.

Teachers’ Day Celebrations

Our students also celebrated Teachers’ Day, expressing their gratitude and appreciation for our dedicated faculty. The event was a heartwarming tribute to the guiding lights of our institution, featuring speeches, performances, and gifts.

Environmental Practices: Harmony with Nature

As part of their Goa module, students transformed the classroom into a serene, nature-inspired groove. This installation celebrated harmony with the environment, showcasing the power of design to create sustainable spaces. The students used natural materials such as leaves, branches, and flowers to create an immersive experience.

HIDE Expo 2025: Knowledge Partner

We’re proud to have participated as a knowledge partner at HIDE Expo 2025, one of the biggest hospitality interior and design expos. Our students and faculty showcased their work, engaging with industry professionals and exploring the latest trends in design. The expo provided a platform for our students to network, learn, and grow.

Our  Interior Design 2023 batch had the privilege of visiting Vibgyor Light Design Studio, Taleigao, where lighting meets artistry and innovation. A heartfelt thank you to Shaikh Abdul Majid , founder of Vibgyor, for sharing his inspiring journey—from law to lighting—and for illuminating the power of design in shaping spatial experience. Under the Building Services module, students explored Vibgyor’s cutting-edge lighting designs, tech, and sustainable lighting solutions that redefine how we see and feel space.
