January 2026 was a vibrant and meaningful month at JD School of Design, bringing together industry learning, cultural celebration, and student creativity. The events held throughout the month reflected the school’s commitment to holistic design education — where academic learning is complemented by real-world exposure and community engagement.
- Industry Interaction Session with Prof. Gaurav Mondal

A key highlight of the month was an industry interaction session conducted on Friday, 16th January 2026, exclusively for final-year fashion students. The session was led by Prof. Gaurav Mondal, who spoke on portfolio development, job scope, and industry insights, offering students valuable guidance at a crucial stage of their academic journey.
Prof. Mondal is a nationally awarded fashion designer with over 20 years of professional experience and 8 years in academia. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design from NIFT Delhi and a Master’s in Fashion Marketing from Nottingham Trent University, UK. Over the years, he has contributed extensively to fashion education as a visiting faculty at NIFT, Pearl Academy, and Lovely Professional University.
During the session, Prof. Mondal emphasised the importance of clarity, originality, and storytelling in portfolio development. The interaction was insightful, honest, and deeply relevant, helping students gain confidence as they prepare to enter the fashion industry.
- Pongal Celebration at JD School of Design

January also brought moments of warmth and togetherness with the Pongal celebration on campus. Students and faculty came together for a potluck gathering that transformed the day into a celebration of shared traditions, conversations, and community spirit.
Beyond the festivities, the celebration fostered meaningful connections across batches and departments, reinforcing the idea that creativity thrives in inclusive and collaborative environments.
- Republic Day Poster Making Competition

Creativity and national pride came together during the Republic Day Poster Making Competition, held on 23rd January 2026 across batches. The theme, “Republic of India – Freedom, Constitution & Unity,” encouraged students to express democratic values through visual storytelling.
The entries reflected strong conceptual thinking, thoughtful symbolism, and a deep sense of patriotism. Through colours, forms, and ideas, students interpreted India’s Constitution, unity, and freedom in visually compelling ways. The competition highlighted how design can serve as a powerful medium to communicate values and social responsibility.
A Month That Reflected the JD School of Design Spirit
Together, these events made January 2026 a well-rounded and enriching month at JD School of Design. From industry exposure and cultural celebrations to purposeful creative expression, the campus reflected an environment that nurtures not just skilled designers but thoughtful individuals ready to engage with the world through design.
