The Art of New Beginnings
As we step into 2026, we welcome a fresh chapter filled with ideas waiting to take shape and creativity ready to unfold. At JD School of Design, powered by JD Institute of Fashion Technology, Goa, the new year begins with renewed energy, curiosity, and a commitment to meaningful design. May creativity continue to guide our ideas, shape our visions, and inspire innovation as we move forward together—exploring, experimenting, and growing through design.
Exploring Textiles Through Hands-On Learning

Learning at JD goes beyond theory, and this spirit came alive as our Fashion Design students of 2024 explored the Flower Loom technique as part of their Fabric Science and Analysis module. Through hands-on experimentation, students closely studied yarn behaviour, structural interlacing, surface texture, and pattern formation. What began as material exploration transformed into textile design outcomes, helping students build a deeper understanding of textiles through touch, process, and practice.
Colour in Motion: Tie and Dye Explorations

Colour became a language of expression as students explored hand-fabric transformation techniques, with a special focus on tie and dye. Each garment showcased was a reflection of patience, precision, and playful experimentation. From organic patterns to bold compositions, students learned how process-driven design can turn simple fabric into visually compelling narratives—where colour, craft, and creativity come together.
Shaping Ideas Through Clay Modelling

Adding another dimension to creative learning, our students participated in a Clay Modelling Workshop conducted by Saba Shaikh. The workshop encouraged students to think in three dimensions, translating abstract ideas into tangible forms. Working with clay enhanced their understanding of form, structure, and proportion, while also nurturing spontaneity and hands-on problem-solving—essential skills for any design discipline.
Walking Through Living Traditions at Lokutsav 2026

Design finds its roots in culture, and our students experienced this firsthand during their visit to Lokutsav 2026. Immersed in vibrant colours, rich textures, and powerful stories, students explored crafts from across India and diverse art forms that embody heritage, skill, and soul. It was a journey through living traditions—one craft at a time—offering inspiration drawn from history, community, and timeless artistry.
As the year unfolds, we look forward to more moments of discovery, collaboration, and creative growth. Here’s to new beginnings, where ideas evolve into designs and learning transforms into innovation.
