Neuro Sphere by R A Deepthi Sri

BSc in Interior Design

R A Deepthi Sri’s design, Neuro Sphere, the winner of the Outstanding Research Award, is a thoughtful place designed for teenagers with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Here, taking a pause isn’t about stopping progress; it’s about creating a chance for growth. The centre focuses on visuospatial learning and adaptable design, making it a flexible space that meets the different emotional and sensory needs of each user.

At its heart, the concept of pause serves as a way for teens to self-regulate, allowing them to slow down a bit and think things through. With movable furniture and adjustable areas, spaces can shift from lively to calm throughout the day. A classroom can turn into a peaceful spot, while a creative space can become a one-on-one area, giving teens control over their sensory experiences.

Using colour zones and clear signals helps with navigation, making it easier for teens to get around without feeling overwhelmed. This approach reduces stress and enables users to focus better.

The centre also features calming design elements like cosy retreat pods, sound rooms, and natural courtyards that are a refuge from daily stress—places to relax, soothe their feelings, or simply be themselves. It pays attention to lighting, sound, and materials to create a soothing atmosphere.

With its thoughtful design, the Autism Therapy Centre embraces differences. It creates a space where therapy, learning, and self-reflection come together, providing teens not just support, but also room to grow and thrive.
